Job summary

Kumaran Systems seeks an experienced Java lead to drive engineering transformations for enterprise-scale banking initiatives. You will design, implement, and mentor teams across Spring Boot, REST APIs, and data access layers while guiding async processing and messaging architectures.

The role requires strong Java expertise, experience with OpenShift/Azure, and a solid DevOps mindset leveraging GitHub, Jenkins, JIRA, and Confluence.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of IT experience with enterprise-scale projects.
• Banking domain experience is a plus.
• 5+ years lead experience in large-scale environments.
• Strong Java 8/11/17/21 expertise with Spring Boot 3.x.
• Hands-on with REST APIs, JPA/Hibernate, and SQL (Oracle).
• Experience with MQ/Kafka messaging and async programming.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design and delivery of Java-based solutions.
• Mentor teams and ensure adherence to design artefacts.
• Explain Java features and provide sample code where needed.
• Develop using Spring Boot, REST APIs, and JPA/Hibernate.
• Implement async APIs and queueing (MQ/Kafka); troubleshoot.
• Optimize SQL queries and manage database interactions.
• Apply DevOps practices; utilize GitHub, Jenkins, JIRA, Confluence.
• Work with Azure/OpenShift and cloud deployment patterns.
• Maintain code branching policies and lifecycle clarity.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across delivery teams.
• Coordinate CI/CD pipelines and release automation.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Minimum 12+ years of IT experience, Banking domain experience is nice to have
• Minimum 5 years of Lead experience in a large-scale enterprise.
• Have Application design experience, well-versed with low-level design artefacts.
• Java v8, v11 and v21 hand on experience required.
• Should be able to clearly explain Java 11/17/21 features and able to write sample code snippets.
• Spring v5, Spring boot 3.x, Rest API frameworks
• JPA / Hibernate annotations
• Async APIs, Async App development using queuing system (MQ, Kafka, Solace, etc.,)
• MQ or Kafka queue/implementation knowledge
• Async Programming features / Implementation and troubleshooting knowledge
• SQL Database, Oracle Database experience
• Experience in writing complex queries, joins, Views, and Procedures
• Query optimisation knowledge
• Azure Cloud experience (Openshift Platform is nice to have)
• DevOps experience is required
• Basic understanding of DevOps tools like GitHub, Jenkins, Jfrog, JIRA, Confluence etc,,
• Able to clearly explain the Code branching policy/lifecycle.
