Job summary

A leading mining operator is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to manage IT infrastructure, focusing on server/network performance and security. The ideal candidate will oversee system operations, plan upgrades, and ensure compliance with security standards. This role requires relocating to Williams Lake, BC, and offers a competitive salary range of $94,900 to $118,900. Candidates with over 5 years of IT experience and relevant qualifications in computer science or systems administration will be strongly considered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a related IT field.
• 5-10 years of experience in a mining or industrial setting is an asset.
• IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, VMWare, or Cisco are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the operation and maintenance of networks, servers, and other core systems.
• Plans for necessary hardware or software upgrades.
• Maintains inventory and asset configuration documentation.
• Establishes IT security procedures.
• Configures and maintains remote access and security provisions.

Skills

Proficiency in Windows operating systems

Proficiency in Linux operating systems

Networking protocols knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)

Experience with multi-domain Windows environments

Scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash)

Strong troubleshooting skills

Valid driver’s licence

Education

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or IT
