Job summary

FortisAlberta Inc. in Calgary seeks a Senior IT Project Lead to drive large, complex technology initiatives from planning through delivery.

You will unite people, technology, and business priorities to ensure on-time, on-budget results while coaching other Project Leaders. This permanent, full-time hybrid role offers 2 days remote after training and the chance to influence major projects within Alberta's electricity distribution sector.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline; seven+ years of related experience.
• Project management designation such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile Certified Practitioner, or equivalent is required.
• Demonstrated experience leading large or complex technology projects including scope, schedule, budget, and stakeholder management.
• Experience with application development lifecycles, methodologies, governance, and deliverables.
• Proven leadership, coaching, facilitation, and team-building skills to lead internal and external resources.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with senior leaders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for decisions and prioritization.
• Experience with project financial management and SAP financial applications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, 365, and related collaboration tools.
• Experience in a regulated environment, preferably electrical utility.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and delivery of large, complex IT projects from initiation through completion.
• Define scope, objectives, deliverables, resources, and success measures with senior leaders.
• Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and forecasts.
• Motivate internal and external project resources with clear accountability.
• Manage risks, issues, dependencies, scope changes, and critical paths with mitigation plans.
• Apply project delivery methodologies, governance, and standards for quality execution.
• Serve as primary contact for stakeholders and report to senior leadership.
• Lead resource and capacity planning with leaders to ensure required expertise.
• Coach and develop Project Leaders and support their performance.
• Manage vendor relationships and influence external partners for project success.
• Conduct health checks and lessons learned to drive improvement, evolve PM frameworks.
• Contribute to strategic technology initiatives and update project management policies.
