Job summary

Stantec in Burnaby, BC and Calgary, AB is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead multi-discipline utility projects across Western Canada. This technical leadership role directs a multi-discipline design team.

This position emphasizes guiding scope, safety, client relations, and delivering engineering reports while mentoring engineers across disciplines. Hybrid work is available with occasional travel to project sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• 12+ years progressive and comprehensive engineering experience.
• 4+ years of experience leading multi-discipline design teams on large, complex projects.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work and collaborate with a range of internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Ensure client expectations related to project scope are clearly understood, met, and exceeded.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members; foster initiative, collaboration, and professional growth.
• Champion a strong safety culture by promoting safe work practices and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.
• Prepare and review technical reports, presentations, standards, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Lead and coordinate multi-discipline design teams for medium to large-scale projects, ensuring integration across structural, mechanical, civil, and electrical domains.
• Resolve highly technical and unusual design or field engineering issues by conducting independent studies and exercising expert judgment.
• Assist project and operations management in meeting safety, cost, quality, and time objectives; propose plan changes and prepare progress reports.
• Contribute to the development of technical standards and ensure all designs support safe operations.
