About the Role

The Senior Cybersecurity Technical Specialist works under Cybersecurity Planning to provide cybersecurity expertise across the enterprise, playing a key role in executing the implementation plan aligned with the Enterprise Architecture vision and roadmap. This includes collaborating with Cybersecurity Operations for practical solution execution.

This role involves providing technical cybersecurity guidance on projects, ensuring plans and deployments adhere to guidelines, standards, policies, and practices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide cybersecurity technical oversight across projects and enterprise activities, collaborating with architects and operations teams.
2. Participate in detailed technical design, analyze solutions, and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, policies, and industry standards.
3. Contribute to strategic direction in Cybersecurity Planning projects and initiatives.
4. Represent BC Hydro’s cybersecurity interests, ensuring solutions meet business requirements, standards, and compliance.
5. Assess and prioritize cybersecurity risks and threats, driving remediation efforts.
6. Collaborate with various teams to strategize and implement cybersecurity initiatives.
7. Analyze project solutions for security impacts and identify gaps, recommending improvements.
8. Participate in project planning, solution design, testing, and documentation reviews.
9. Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends.
10. Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• At least seven years of experience in designing and implementing cybersecurity solutions in large enterprises.
• Extensive knowledge in multiple technologies, including cloud, data centers, identity and access management, security monitoring, firewalls, networking, etc.
• Experience in cybersecurity architecture and planning roles.
• Critical experience in identity and access management.
• CISSP or relevant cybersecurity certifications preferred.
• Proven ability to advise on security issues, assess vulnerabilities, and develop mitigation strategies.
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint.
• Experience with OT and ICS, NERC CIP compliance is an asset.
