The Workers' Compensation Board - Alberta in Calgary is seeking a Special Investigator to join the Investigations Unit. This permanent, full-time role requires enforcing the Workers’ Compensation Act and related regulations, conducting complex investigations, and providing investigative guidance to claim owners.

You will interview workers, employers, and professionals, prepare reports for legal proceedings, and collaborate with law enforcement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 20 years of progressive experience in law enforcement with a recognized police agency.
• Knowledge of trial/courtroom procedures, the Criminal Code of Canada, and the Canada Evidence Act.
• Knowledge of the Workers’ Compensation Act, the Protection of Privacy Act, and the Access to Information Act.
• Must be able to qualify for Peace Officer status without further training.
• Must possess a valid Alberta Driver’s License.

Responsabilités

• Enforce the Workers’ Compensation Act and related regulations while acting within the scope of employment with WCB-Alberta.
• Review and assess fraud tips and referrals related to allegations of system abuse and plan complex investigations.
• Plan and manage complex investigations using a variety of investigative tools.
• Conduct interviews with workers, employers, service providers, medical professionals, and other relevant parties.
• Prepare clear, objective investigative reports and court briefs for legal proceedings.
