Job summary

City of Edmonton is seeking a GIS Coordinator to lead the newly centralized GIS team in Parks and Roads Services. You will supervise analysts, set standards, and drive data-driven decisions for city assets and green spaces.

You will mentor staff, manage complex geospatial datasets, and deliver innovative mapping and reporting solutions across departments and partners. Applicants with leadership and GIS expertise are encouraged.

Qualifications

• University degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, Computer Science, Geomatics Engineering, or related field with 4+ years GIS leadership experience.
• Post-secondary GIS diploma with 5+ years senior GIS experience and 2+ years supervisory responsibility.
• High school diploma plus GIS certificate with 7+ years senior GIS experience and 2+ years supervisory responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise GIS Analysts and Technicians, including project planning and execution.
• Develop annual and multi-year GIS work plans aligned with priorities and budgets.
• Set timelines, monitor progress, and ensure deliverables meet standards and quality control.
• Oversee geospatial data governance and security of PARS spatial data and assets.
• Lead creation of workflows, mapping apps, data visualizations, and reporting tools.
