Job summary

Government of Yukon, Executive Council Office, Intergovernmental Relations, is seeking a permanent Intergovernmental Relations Officer in Whitehorse. The role develops intergovernmental strategies, coordinates positions, and supports Yukon’s participation in intergovernmental and international agreements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public administration, political science, communications or a related field.
• Extensive experience in policy, communications, negotiations, and/or intergovernmental relations.
• Extensive experience analyzing complex and sensitive issues and providing strategic advice to senior level management and elected officials;
• Experience supporting engagements led by elected or appointed representatives or representing organizational interests externally.

Responsibilities

• Manage, coordinate and develop intergovernmental strategies, positions and relationships.
• Provide strategic advisory support for Yukon’s participation in intergovernmental and international agreements, committees and meetings.
• Represent the Government of Yukon in intergovernmental engagements with other governments in Canada and internationally.
• Support executive-level coordination to ensure consistent and effective intergovernmental relations.
