Job summary

The Intergovernmental Relations Analyst at the Tla’amin Nation will support treaty implementation and self-governance through research, analysis, drafting, data management, and cross‑department engagement with federal, provincial, and First Nations partners.

Responsibilities include coordinating meetings, preparing briefs, and supporting negotiations, while maintaining relationships within the Tla’amin Community and with government bodies.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree plus relevant work experience.
• 2–3 years of related experience in research, policy, government relations, engagement, project coordination, or similar role.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provides research, policy, engagement, and coordination support to department managers and directors with Indigenous and governmental partners.
• Coordinates, prepares for, and facilitates meetings, working groups, negotiations, and engagement processes with federal, provincial, First Nation, municipal, and other partners.
• Supports and, where appropriate, leads intergovernmental relations priorities including engagements and negotiations with federal, provincial, First Nations, and local governments.
• Reviews proposals, initiatives, and agreements to identify implications for Tla’amin laws, regulations, policies, and processes.
• Conducts research and analysis on legislation, policies, programs, and best practices in other governments to support improvements to Tla’amin governance.
• Supports development, implementation, and review of Tla’amin laws, regulations, policies, processes, and strategic initiatives.
• Supports community data management, tracking indicators and progress toward intergovernmental objectives.
• Develops and maintains relationships within the Tla’amin Community to support engagement, consultation, and project development.
• Provides engagement and coordination support for Crown consultations and related intergovernmental processes.
• Supports and leads projects related to Treaty amendments and implementation, as assigned.
• Prepares briefing notes, reports, speaking notes, presentations, and other materials for Legislators and senior leadership.
• Represents Tla’amin Nation at external meetings, tables, and engagement opportunities.
• Supports departmental funding applications, project development, and related reporting.
