Job summary

Sabre Ltd in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to support commercial and industrial construction opportunities across Alberta and Western Canada. You will develop accurate estimates and proposals while coordinating with project management, operations, vendors, subcontractors, and customers to win quality, on-time projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical estimating for commercial/industrial projects.

• Obtain supplier pricing and evaluate subcontractor bids.

• Maintain estimating records and monitor market conditions.

The Opportunity

Sabre is growing its E&I Field Services Division and is looking for a Senior Electrical Estimator to support commercial and industrial construction opportunities across Alberta and Western Canada.

This position is responsible for developing accurate, competitive estimates and proposals while working closely with project management, operations, vendors, subcontractors, and customers. The successful candidate will bring practical electrical construction knowledge, sound estimating judgment, and the ability to manage multiple opportunities in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare budgets, estimates, proposals, and bid submissions for commercial and industrial electrical projects
• Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and other bid documents
• Complete material takeoffs, labour calculations, equipment pricing, and subcontractor comparisons
• Obtain and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
• Identify project risks, exclusions, clarifications, and potential cost-saving opportunities
• Participate in pre-construction planning, constructability reviews, and design-build opportunities
• Work with Project Managers and Field Operations to develop practical execution plans and labour strategies
• Support proposal development and bid review meetings
• Maintain organized estimating records, vendor pricing, labour information, and historical project costs
• Monitor changes in material pricing, labour availability, and market conditions
• Help improve Sabre’s estimating tools, processes, templates, and cost information
• Support the transition of successful estimates to the project execution team

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in electrical estimating, electrical construction, project coordination, or a related field
• Practical understanding of commercial or industrial electrical systems and construction methods
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and bid documents
• Experience preparing material takeoffs, labour estimates, and project pricing
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are considered assets but are not required:

• Journeyperson Electrician, Electrical Engineering Technologist, or related technical designation
• Five or more years of electrical construction or estimating experience
• Experience with commercial, industrial, institutional, mining, utilities, or infrastructure projects
• Experience using Accubid, ConEst, Bluebeam, or comparable estimating software
• Experience with projects of varying sizes and delivery models
• Familiarity with design-build, tendered, negotiated, or service-based electrical work
• Gold Seal, CET, PMP, or another relevant professional designation
• Established relationships with contractors, consultants, suppliers, or industrial customers
