Job summary

AECOM Consultants Inc. seeks a Senior Hydraulic Engineer to join our Canada-wide hydropower practice. Based in a hybrid work model, you will contribute to design and delivery of hydroelectric plants, dams and hydraulic structures across multiple projects.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years of experience in hydraulic design, strong HEC software skills, fluent French, and a track record of leading technical teams and producing rigorous reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in hydraulic design for hydropower developments, hydraulic modelling, and dam safety engineering.
• Strong working knowledge of the HEC software suite (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, etc.).
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
• Fluency in French, both written and spoken.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical lead and take ownership of discipline-specific assignments, coordinating engineering professionals and technical teams involved in project delivery.
• Prepare and author technical reports and calculation packages for a variety of projects, including hydraulic studies and analyses, energy production simulations, transient flow analyses, and dam safety assessments.
• Carry out feasibility studies, preliminary design, and detailed engineering for hydropower developments and pumped storage facilities, as well as other hydraulic infrastructure.
• Perform hydraulic and hydrodynamic numerical modelling, including dam breach analyses using 1D, 2D, and 3D models.
• Conduct quality reviews of technical studies prepared by team members and provide technical oversight and mentorship to engineers.
