We are seeking a Human Resources Director responsible for providing bilingual (English/French) HR support across multiple plant locations (Terrebonne and Mississauga). Fluency in both languages is essential for effective communication with employees at all levels.
The Plant Human Resources Director manages employee relations, ensures compliance with HR legislation and regulations (such as PIPEDA, ESA, CNESST, WSIB), and conducts investigations on employee morale, compensation, and employment issues. They will collaborate with leadership to communicate, train, coach, and assist employees, and may support recruitment activities and employee relations.
What You Will Do:
- Participate in the selection process for employees and key leaders.
- Lead structured interviews at the plant level.
- Identify hiring and workforce trends and address concerns.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and legal standards in hiring.
- Promote diversity and inclusion in recruitment.
- Partner with plant leadership on skills development and succession planning.
- Onboard new managers and ensure smooth transitions.
- Design effective local compensation programs in collaboration with the Corporate Compensation team.
- Communicate pension and retirement programs.
- Implement compensation changes using best practices.
- Provide HR training on compensation and benefits.
- Communicate wage increases appropriately.
- Stay informed on new laws and assist with local implementation.
- Understand Sonoco's talent management processes.
- Identify performance issues when necessary.
- Organize annual training on workplace harassment and violence.
- Participate in SPS activities locally and within HR.
- Ensure diversity, inclusion, and unconscious bias training.
- Encourage use of TOPPAN University resources.
- Support employees with concerns, performance issues, and last-chance agreements.
- Apply policy understanding to employee situations.
- Facilitate open discussions and conflict resolution.
- Build positive relationships with employees and union representatives.
- Administer collective agreements properly.
- Work on grievance processes with Labor Relations.
- Use relevant systems (e.g., UKG, SIMON, Workday).
- Understand key business processes enabled by these systems.
- Establish effective relationships with internal partners.
- Balance employee and business interests.
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
