Job summary

Nexkemia is seeking an experienced Human Resources professional to serve as the on-site partner for managers and employees across a wide range of HR activities in Quebec. Reporting to the Canada HR Manager, you will lead recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, and training initiatives while upholding employment legislation and company policies.

You will build trust with leadership, support performance management, and help drive a culture of development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Human Resources experience in a generalist role.
  • Strong experience in employee relations and manager coaching.
  • Solid knowledge of Quebec employment legislation.
  • Bilingual in French and English; communicate with English-speaking employees in Quebec and North America.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with an HRIS (ADP is asset).

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process.
  • Draft and post job advertisements; participate in interviews and candidate selection.
  • Coordinate new employee orientation and onboarding.
  • Monitor and manage probationary period follow-ups.
  • Advise and support managers on human resources matters; handle employee relations issues.
  • Participate in workplace investigations and disciplinary processes.
  • Support managers with performance management and employee development.
  • Participate in employee termination processes when required.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant employee records; coordinate documentation related to hires, promotions, transfers, leaves, and terminations.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, pay equity requirements, and company policies; participate in HR audits and reporting activities.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefit programs; coordinate disability and leave administration; liaise with payroll and providers.
  • Coordinate training and employee development activities; monitor mandatory training requirements; support HR programs and initiatives; analyze workforce trends.
  • You build trust quickly with employees and managers; you are approachable, patient, and an attentive listener; you influence and coach leaders; you maintain sound judgment and professionalism; you partner with the business on the plant floor.

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources professional who is looking to play a key role within our Quebec operations while serving as a trusted partner to both managers and employees.

Your Role

Reporting to the Canada HR Manager, you will act as the primary HR partner on-site, supporting managers and employees across a wide range of human resources activities.

Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process.

Employee Relations & Management Support
  • Advise and support managers on human resources matters.
  • Manage employee relations issues and workplace concerns.
  • Participate in workplace investigations and disciplinary processes.
  • Support managers with performance management and employee development.
  • Participate in employee termination processes when required.
HR Administration & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate and compliant employee records.
  • Coordinate documentation related to hires, promotions, transfers, leaves, and terminations.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, pay equity requirements, and company policies.
  • Participate in HR audits and reporting activities.
Benefits & Leave Administration
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefit programs.
  • Coordinate administrative aspects of disability and leave cases.
  • Submit employee changes and required adjustments to the payroll team.
  • Liaise with insurance providers and external partners as needed.
Training & Development
  • Coordinate training and employee development activities.
  • Monitor completion of mandatory training requirements.
  • Support the implementation of corporate HR programs and initiatives.
  • Analyze workforce trends and recommend practical solutions and improvements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Human Resources experience in a generalist role.
  • Strong experience in employee relations and manager coaching.
  • Solid knowledge of Quebec employment legislation.
  • Bilingual in French and English. (regularly communicate, both verbally and in writing, with English-speaking employees located in Quebec and with colleagues and direct management across North America. In addition, corporate services and cross-functional activities, including Human Resources, Finance, Benefits Administration, Payroll Support, Information Technology, and leadership communications, are conducted in English in collaboration with teams based in the United States)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with an HRIS (ADP is considered an asset).

Please Note

This position does not include payroll processing or day-to-day time and attendance administration. The incumbent supports the payroll function by submitting employee changes, required documentation, and payroll-related adjustments to the appropriate payroll resources.
