Job summary

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is assisting a General Contracting client in the GTA to hire a Senior Health and Safety Coordinator. This role supports the development, implementation and monitoring of safety programs across the organization, while promoting a strong safety culture.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in heavy civil construction, post-secondary OH&S education, and an NCSO designation (or plans to obtain within a year); CRSP designation is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Health and Safety Coordinator in heavy civil construction.
• Post-Secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety.
• NCSO designation or plan to obtain within one year.
• CRSP designation preferred.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Experience with COR and ISO audits.
• Experience with Return to Work and WSIB claims.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Managers and Supervisors to monitor compliance and identify safety issues.
• Promote and maintain a strong culture of health and safety across the company through safety programs and initiatives.
• Assist in developing and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures and ensure they reflect best practices and current policies/regulations.
• Coordinate safety onboarding, orientations and compliance tracking.
• Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committees.
• Conduct field-level safety meetings, toolbox talks, and health and safety awareness.
• Conduct regular workplace/site inspections and aid in incident reporting and investigations.
• Assist in the administration and management of the COR program.
• Prepare safety reports, dashboards and documentation for stakeholders.
• Keep up-to-date knowledge of OH&S regulations and practices.
• Act as liaison with government, WSIB, management, subcontractors, clients and workers.
