Job summary

BGIS is seeking a Construction Health and Safety Specialist in Toronto, ON to lead and support safety initiatives across corporate and commercial construction projects. You will deliver, implement, and maintain safety programs ensuring compliance with provincial legislation and client requirements.

The role requires a strong understanding of construction operations, contractor management, hazardous materials regulations, incident investigations, and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safety leadership and implement BGIS Health, Safety & Environmental Management System across Construction Services and Project Delivery Services.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal OH&S requirements.
• Oversee hazardous materials programs (asbestos, lead, silica, mold, designated substances).
• Support project planning, risk assessments, hazard analyses, site inspections, audits, and investigations.
• Develop and deliver health and safety training; facilitate safety meetings and orientations.
• Maintain safety records, regulatory documentation, and safety performance reports.
