Job summary

INA Solution seeks a Health & Safety Coordinator to support safety initiatives across field and office operations. You will work with employees, supervisors and management to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance on active construction projects.

The role involves conducting orientations, delivering training, inspections, incident investigations and maintaining regulatory documentation. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential in a fast-paced construction

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education and/or certification in Health & Safety or a related discipline.
• Experience in construction or a similar field environment.
• COR-certified experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of CVOR practices, inspections and regulations is an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct project-specific safety orientations for new employees and visitors.
• Coordinate and deliver health and safety training.
• Perform documented daily project and site inspections and address deficiencies.
• Assist with equipment inspections and maintenance programs.
• Monitor tool and equipment maintenance to meet requirements.
• Identify unsafe conditions and elevate concerns as needed.
• Support hazard assessments and field-level risk assessments.
• Assist during government health and safety inspections and corrective actions.
• Maintain WHMIS and SDS documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare safety alerts, bulletins, notices, and meeting minutes.
• Develop and communicate site emergency response plans.
• Support incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Track incident data and monthly safety statistics to identify trends.
• Maintain health and safety documentation and records across projects.
• Provide a visible health and safety presence on active sites.
• Build relationships with field employees, trades, and management.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of safety policies and programs.

Job description

The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting and coordinating health and safety initiatives across field and office operations. This role works closely with employees, supervisors, foremen, superintendents and management to promote a strong safety culture, maintain compliance and ensure health and safety programs are effectively implemented across active construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct project-specific safety orientations for new employees, subcontractors and site visitors.
• Coordinate, assist with and deliver health and safety training.
• Conduct documented daily project and site inspections, identify hazards and work with site leadership to correct deficiencies.
• Assist with equipment inspections and ensure identified deficiencies are addressed.
• Monitor tool and equipment maintenance programs to ensure requirements are being followed.
• Identify and address unsafe working conditions and elevate concerns where required.
• Support supervisors and field personnel with job hazard assessments and field-level hazard assessments.
• Assist during government health and safety inspections and help coordinate any required corrective actions.
• Maintain WHMIS and SDS documentation and ensure controlled products meet regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and distribute safety alerts, bulletins, notices, reports and meeting minutes.
• Assist with the development and communication of project-specific emergency response plans.
• Support supervisors and foremen with incident investigations, root-cause analysis, reporting and corrective actions.
• Track incident data and maintain monthly safety statistics to identify trends and areas requiring improvement.
• Maintain accurate health and safety documentation and records.
• Provide a visible health and safety presence across active construction sites.
• Build strong working relationships with field employees, trades, supervisors and management.
• Support continuous improvement of health and safety policies, procedures and programs.

Qualifications & Experience

• Post-secondary education and/or certification in Health & Safety, Human Resources or a related discipline.
• Previous health and safety experience within construction, electrical contracting, industrial services or a similar field environment.
• Experience working within a COR-certified environment is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of CVOR practices, inspections and regulations is an asset.
• Working knowledge of applicable federal and provincial health and safety legislation.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety practices, hazard identification and regulatory compliance.
• Experience conducting site inspections, incident investigations and safety orientations.
• Comfortable working in an active construction environment and interacting directly with trades and site leadership.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong relationship-building skills with both field and office employees.
• Able to confidently address unsafe practices and have difficult conversations when required.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage health and safety requirements across multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation.
• Analytical with the ability to identify trends and recurring safety issues.
