The Ontario Cannabis Store provides safe, responsible access to recreational cannabis for adults 19 and older. We operate the sole legal online store for recreational cannabis in Ontario and are the provincial wholesaler of cannabis for private retail stores.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Graphic Designer to join our team! The Senior Graphic Designer will serve as a brand steward to collectively maintain brand and visual guidelines ensuring an exceptional level of quality and consistency brand messaging at all consumer and customer touchpoints. They will support the implementation of the content strategy for all OCS internal and external communication channels.

The Senior Graphic Designer will be responsible for the on-time creation and production of various design projects, both print and digital to create on-brand customer facing design solutions. Additionally, they will provide internal design support for various internal stakeholders, such as Marketing, Customer Insights, Customer Experience, Social Responsibility, Communications, Digital, Human Resources, and Information Technology teams as well as hold third party agencies to rigorous standards to ensure the brand is accurately represented creatively.

About Your Day

• Lead creative conceptual development and execution across all outputs to foster consumer / customer engagement
• Support the coaching and development of the in-house Graphic Designer and review all work produced by the Graphic Designer as required
• Work closely and monitor creative asset development through third party agencies
• Support development and implementation of interdepartmental SOP with key internal stakeholders (i.e. Comms, SR & Stakeholder Engagement)
• Attend key meetings with external agencies and support in campaign development if required
• Prepare and present creative concepts or strategy to internal teams, key stakeholders, and Senior Leadership team, as required
• Act as OCS Brand Steward to ensure that the OCS brand fully communicates the OCS brand strategy and brand consistency internally and externally to minimizes any risk to the OCS reputation and fosters brand trust
• Prepare, update, and maintain templates and / or approve all graphics and ensure that all materials prepared adhere to the OCS brand guidelines standards
• Create original graphics, illustrations, and infographics tailored to various marketing needs, involving generating fresh concepts and refining designs to enhance visual appeal and effectiveness
• Develop and / or gatekeep design concepts and graphics to support the marketing plan and all relevant creative requests from internal OCS stakeholders
• Design and layout editorial and education collateral
• Research, source and purchase stock photography when needed
• Oversee pre-production planning and art direction for photo and video shoots
• Contribute strategically by aligning design efforts with broader marketing campaigns, ensuring that visual elements support business objectives effectively
• Prepare and optimize graphics, images and copy layout
• Edit images and make artwork revisions as required
• Set up art files for print and traditional channels

About You

• Completion of post secondary education in graphic design (or related field of study) or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Degree in Marketing or Graphic Design is preferred
• 5+ years working as a Graphic Designer in an agency or in-house design studio
• 3+ years' experience in a creative design leadership position is an asset
• Excellent web graphics preparation and production knowledge
• Solid understanding of graphics design principles, colour theory, typography
• Self-starter with excellent project management skills with ability to handle multiple competing priorities
• Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Cloud suite and MS Office Suite, FIGMA
• Proven track record for developing omni-channel design for on-line and social media channels for B2C and B2B customers
• Proactive and able to continuously manage change and deliver results in an extremely fast paced, energetic work environment
• Knowledge and experience with accessibility compliance as per the AODA is preferred
• Experience with eCommerce or on-line retail design, and Shopify, WordPress and Microsoft D365 is an asset
• Knowledge of the cannabis industry is preferred
• Creative thinker with entrepreneurial spirit and positive attitude

About the Job

• This position currently offers a hybrid work schedule. The current in office requirement is a minimum of 3 days / week (may be more depending on business needs). The OCS office is located near York Mills and Yonge Street. However, OCS reserves the right to change this policy and its office location at any time.

• Employment Type : Permanent, Full-Time (Bargaining Unit Role; Represented by OPSEU)
• Required Travel : Ability to travel throughout the province to attend off-site shoots as required by business needs. Locations can be outside of GTA in rural areas, as such reliable transportation is required

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $84,835-$89,000. This is a pay grade 8 BU role, with a salary range of $84,835- $103,687. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
