What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend applications using Node.js, Kafka, MSSQL, and both REST and GraphQL APIs
• Collaborate on architectural decisions and establish best practices across services
• Conduct thoughtful and constructive code reviews to uphold quality and consistency
• Work closely with product leads and UX teams to turn requirements into reliable technical solutions
• Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize backend systems for performance, scalability, and reliability
• Write clean, maintainable documentation for services, APIs, and internal tools
• Manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced, remote-first Agile environment
• Actively contribute to planning sessions, retrospectives, and cross-functional initiatives

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of professional experience building scalable back-end systems
• Proven expertise with Node.js, Kafka, GraphQL, and REST API design
• Strong database skills, especially with MSSQL, including complex query writing and performance tuning
• Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum teams and collaborating across functions
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills—able to break down complex ideas clearly
• Confident presenting work and engaging stakeholders during sprint demos, planning, and reviews

Bonus Points For

• Experience with frontend frameworks like React or Angular
• Familiarity with non-relational databases (MongoDB, Redis)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or UCD
• Knowledge of monitoring/logging tools (Kibana, Dynatrace) and cloud platforms like OpenShift
• Previous experience in fintech, platform engineering, or WealthTech
