Placements24 seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead geotechnical investigations and designs for mining and civil projects in Kimberley. The role demands expertise in soil/rock mechanics, design report development, and client liaison.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Pr. Eng registration with ECSA is required.
• Minimum 9 years of relevant geotechnical experience in mining and civil sectors preferred.
• Proficient in geotechnical software: Plaxis, GeoStudio, Slope/W or equivalent.
• Strong analytical, report-writing and client-communication skills.
• Experience managing complex investigations and large-scale projects.
• Familiarity with South African mining and civil construction industries.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute and interpret geotechnical investigations for mining and civil projects.
• Analyze soil/rock slopes, foundations, tunnels and tailings dams.
• Develop comprehensive geotechnical design reports and recommendations.
• Manage project scopes, budgets and timelines.
• Provide expert consultation to internal teams, clients and contractors.
• Supervise junior engineers and technicians.
• Ensure compliance with SA standards and international best practices.
• Conduct site inspections and provide construction support.
• Assess risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Contribute to business development and client relationships in Kimberley.
