Job summary

Staples Canada is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A, to provide analytical and planning support for B2C financials. You will partner with FP&A leadership and cross‑functional teams to drive budgeting, forecasting, and cost control, delivering actionable insights and robust financial models.

The ideal candidate has a finance background, strong analytical and communication skills, and 2–3 years in a related role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; CPA strongly preferred or actively pursuing CPA.
• MBA is considered an asset.
• High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Excel Macros preferred.
• Experience modeling business cases and building management reports.
• Ability to interpret large volumes of financial and non-financial data for management insights.
• 2–3 years in a Senior Financial Analyst/Financial Analyst role with budgeting and planning experience.
• Experience with Power BI, AS400, Oracle, SQL, GCP, and Toad/datalake is a plus.
• Experience in retail, multi-location/national or multi-channel retail is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support B2C financial and operation reporting and 5-year planning, including retail and field resource planning.
• Prepare and analyze daily/weekly/monthly reports and reconciliations.
• Prepare month-end variance analysis and commentary vs budget and forecasts.
• Build financial models and perform quantitative analysis to inform decision-making.
• Perform financial modelling, simulations, sensitivity analysis, and testing.
• Provide analytical support to forecasts and operating plans.
• Collaborate with other analytical teams to bring new tools and data insights.
• Continuously improve accuracy of forecasts across business units.
• Provide quantitative leadership to the finance team.
