Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a leader in the FMCG sector to hire a Product Development Scientist with expertise in Food Chemistry for Kimberley. The role covers concept generation, formulation, testing, scale-up, and ensuring product quality and safety within an innovative R&D team.

You will lead lab-scale research, develop analytical methods, evaluate ingredients and products for regulatory compliance, collaborate cross-functionally, and help transfer technology to manufacturing while advancing

Qualifications

Master's or PhD in Food Science, Food Chemistry, Chemistry, or related field.
5+ years of hands-on food product development experience in FMCG.

Responsibilities

Lead development of new food products from ideation to commercialization focusing on flavor, texture, nutrition, and shelf-life.
Conduct lab-scale research, formulation development, and sensory evaluations.
Analyze ingredients and finished products for quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with marketing, R&D, manufacturing and QA.
Troubleshoot technical issues during development and scale-up.
Develop and validate analytical methods for product testing.
Stay updated on scientific advancements and market trends.
Prepare technical reports and presentations on projects.
Assist in technology transfer to manufacturing for full-scale production.
Ensure adherence to food safety regulations and company quality standards.
