Job summary

Aerotek in Cambridge, ON, is seeking an experienced Fitter for a permanent, on‑site role in a large industrial weld shop. You will read drawings, plan fitting, and operate MIG/TIG/flux core welding with heavy fabrication tasks, including crane and equipment operation. The position emphasizes safety, blueprint interpretation, and high‑quality assemblies of structural steel and sheet metal components.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fitting and/or fabrication experience in an industrial or structural steel environment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
• Strong fabrication skills with structural steel and sheet metal.
• Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and flux core welding.
• Experience with grinding and finishing operations for fabricated components.
• Ability to select, use, and operate appropriate hand tools and fabrication equipment safely.
• Experience operating expanders, drive motors, hydraulic expanding equipment, stud tensioning equipment, hydro swage machines, and metawash systems.
• Ability to work safely in confined spaces inside vessels, including confined space entry permits.
• Experience performing pressure testing procedures on fabricated components.
• Ability to monitor Tubehole Cleaning Cell using PC interfaces and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and follow drawings, blueprints, and work orders to complete fitting and fabrication tasks accurately.
• Plan and organize the fitting process to ensure efficient workflow and high‑quality output.
• Select, use, and operate welding tools and fabrication equipment for each job.
• Preheat workpieces to meet welding and fabrication specs.
• Perform fabrication and fitting of structural steel and sheet metal components using MIG, TIG, and flux core welding.
• Operate various machines and equipment to support fitting and fabrication work.
• Work inside vessels with confined-space entry requirements following safety protocols.
• Perform pressure testing to verify integrity of fabricated components.
• Support Tubehole Cleaning Cell operations and monitor system performance.
• Safely operate cranes, elevating platforms, forklifts, and related equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized weld shop and follow safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with team to meet production targets and quality standards.
