Job summary

The Government of Nova Scotia seeks a Manager, Firewall to provide strategic and operational leadership for teams delivering critical technology services in a 24x7 environment.

Reporting to the Director, Digital Infrastructure, you will oversee planning, implementation and ongoing management of core infrastructure including firewall, VPN, SD-WAN, load balancers, DNS management and cloud managed networking services.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in information technology, computer science, business administration, public administration or a related field, plus several years of progressively responsible experience leading technology operations or service delivery.
• Experience leading employees in a complex enterprise environment.
• Broad knowledge of enterprise technology environments: networks, firewalls, servers, storage, databases, cloud, enterprise apps.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams responsible for critical infrastructure and enterprise technology services.
• Plan and oversee secure, reliable delivery of technology services.
• Allocate staff, financial and technical resources based on service needs and risk.
• Lead service design, transition and continual-improvement initiatives.
• Monitor service levels and vendor commitments using meaningful metrics.
• Lead major-incident response and coordinate resolution activities.
