Summary:

We are currently seeking a Senior Financial Services Risk Data Analyst to join our Payment Operations team in Toronto, Vancouver, or Calgary.

What your team does:

Launched in late 2021, Clio Payments is one of the fastest-growing legal payments solutions globally, processing billions of dollars of client payments annually. The Payment Operations team, led by the Director of Payment Operations, manages the scaling of Clio Payments across North America and internationally. The team handles the entire customer journey, from client intake and onboarding to dispute resolution, fraud, and credit monitoring.

Who you are:

Reporting to the Director of Payment Operations, we seek a Senior Risk Management and Data Analyst with experience in Fintech, Payments, Merchant, and Portfolio Risk Management. You will develop and execute data insights initiatives, using your understanding of card payments, ACH, wires, banking, and fraud prevention tools, to support risk strategies and cross-functional projects.

What you’ll do:

• Lead development of analytics and predictive models for risk assessment, operational optimization, and portfolio performance.
• Measure and report on Operational and Risk Management KPIs, ensuring alignment with leadership.
• Design models for card payments, ACH, wires, and other financial solutions, adhering to compliance and cost considerations.
• Implement data frameworks and tools to prevent fraud and financial crime while maintaining customer experience.
• Identify operational and risk gaps, conducting preliminary analyses for platform integration.
• Collaborate across teams and with vendors to deliver insights and ensure strategic alignment.
• Support merchant and transaction monitoring, advising on risk evaluation and fraud prevention.
• Respond to fraud events, working with security and payments teams.
• Define risk tolerance levels for new and existing products.
• Create dashboards and reports on fraud exposure and mitigation performance.
• Develop educational materials on emerging fraud techniques.
• Serve as an operational liaison with third-party fintech vendors and partners.

What you may have:

• 3-5 years in Financial Services, Payments, or Fintech, with knowledge of card networks, ACH, wires, and emerging payment tech.
• 2+ years in Fraud and Risk Prevention within financial services.
• 2+ years in data analytics or data science in a SaaS environment.
• Strong SQL, data mining, and dashboard skills.
• Experience working cross-functionally and reporting to leadership.
• Experience with global markets outside North America.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and adaptability skills.

Bonus points if you have:

• Experience at a digital bank or fraud prevention vendor.
• Knowledge of compliance, fraud, and risk management in fintech or card networks.
• Understanding of ACH transactions and reversal fraud risk.
• Technical knowledge of AI-based fraud prevention solutions.
