360 Kid is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to provide senior-level financial analysis, reporting, and operational support to the Director of Finance & Administration. You will lead budgeting, forecasting, and funder compliance while improving internal controls and financial processes.

You will work closely with Program Managers to improve financial understanding and support effective resource allocation, ensuring accurate, timely information for decision making.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in accounting or finance with advanced knowledge.
  • CPA designation or working towards it is an asset.
  • Minimum three years related experience, preferably in a not-for-profit environment.
  • Current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check).
  • Sage Intacct is a MUST.
  • Proficient with Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce, Sage Intacct, RBC Express and AHT payments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate month-end activities including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Complete finance operations such as bank deposits, AR, and journal entries.
  • Participate in annual budget, lead forecasting, and variance analysis with program managers.
  • Review funder terms and ensure revenues/expenses align with requirements.
  • Identify financial/operational risks and escalate to the Director.
  • Liaise with third parties to ensure efficient finance operations.
  • Assist in year-end close, audit prep, and working papers.

Job description

The Senior Financial Analyst will provide senior-level financial analysis, reporting and operational support to the Director of Finance & Administration and organizational leadership. The position will take a lead role in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, funder compliance, audit preparation and the continuous improvement of financial processes and internal controls. The Senior Financial Analyst will work closely with Program Managers to improve financial understanding, support effective resource allocation and ensure financial information is accurate, timely and useful for decision making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate month-end activities, including journal entries, accruals, bank reconciliation, and Balance Sheet/ Statement of Operation account analysis.
  • Complete miscellaneous finance operations such bank deposits, accounts receivable and journal entries.
  • Participate in the annual budget process and lead periodic forecasting processes, including the preparation of templates, consolidation of departmental submissions and analysis of organizational financial requirements. Conduct detailed variance analysis and work with Program Managers to identify the causes of significant variances and develop appropriate corrective actions. Review the financial terms and reporting requirements of funding agreements and ensure that revenues and expenditures are recorded and reported in accordance with funder requirements.
  • Identify financial and operational risks and bring significant matters to the attention of the Director of Finance & Administration
  • Liaison with third part organizations, to guarantee efficiency of operations for both Finance department and 3600kids staff.
  • Perform year-end close activities, including adjusting journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and account analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of the year-end audit files and schedules, working papers, and work with auditors to complete the annual audit.
  • Support the development, implementation and monitoring of internal controls to protect organizational assets and improve the accuracy and reliability of financial information.
  • Review accounting processes and recommend improvements to strengthen controls, reduce manual activities and improve the efficiency of Finance operations.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for funder audits and financial monitoring. Work with funders during these activities to best support the interests of 3600kids
  • Prepare the rent tax receipts for the youths at the end of calendar year
  • Complete the bi-annual HST return
  • Prepare the application of annual property tax rebates for submission
  • Complete the annual Charity Return and Information form for submission to CRA.
  • Assist with the implementation of recommendations arising from external audits, funder reviews and internal control assessments.
  • Supervise and support the activities of the Accounts Payable Administrator, ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of work competed.
  • Provide back-up to Accounts Payable Administrator and to Payroll & Benefits Administrator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall goals and objectives of the organization.
Education and Skills Required
  • Post-Secondary education Accounting or Finance and advanced accounting and finance knowledge.
  • CPA designation or working towards obtaining one is an asset.
  • Minimum three years related experience preferably in a not for profit environment.

  • Working knowledge of Sage Intacct is a MUST
  • Experienced and skilled in the use of all corporate productivity tools including Outlook, Excel, Word.
  • Proficient with organization specific systems, including Ceridian Dayforce, Sage Intacct, RBC Express, AHT payments.
  • Must be resourceful and possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently using an above average level of initiative.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple and changing demands.
  • Strong oral and written communication with all levels of staff, the public and clients while maintaining objectivity.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manger
