Job summary

Do you have the financial expertise, analytical skills, and sound judgment to help guide financial decisions and support positive housing outcomes for Nunavummiut? Reporting to the Manager, Financial Services, the Senior Finance Analyst plays a key role in supporting the Nunavut Housing Corporation’s financial management and planning. You will provide independent financial analysis, advice, and recommendations to senior management; help ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial systems and reporting; and contribute to effective planning, budgeting, and oversight in support of NHC’s mandate and Business Plan.
The Main Responsibilities Include

  • Provide independent financial analysis, advice, and recommendations to NHC senior management.
  • Manage utility accounts, reconciliations, payments, and invoice controls.
  • Prepare cost analyses and financial reports to support annual budgeting.
  • Develop “what-if” analyses for long-term housing plans and financing options.
  • Monitor financial systems, controls, and reporting for accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide financial guidance and training to NHC staff and support year-end activities.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through completion of a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in business, accounting, finance or a related field with three (3) years of related work experience in accounting and/or financial analysis. A Chartered Professional Accountant designation is considered an asset. The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
