Job summary

RWDI is seeking a Senior Field Technician – Source Emissions to direct and execute complex source testing projects across industrial sectors. This role combines hands-on fieldwork with leadership and client-facing responsibilities, overseeing field testing programs and mentoring junior technicians to ensure safety and data integrity.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Environmental Technology, Engineering, Chemistry is an asset.
  • Minimum 5+ years in Air Quality Testing field.
  • Practical expertise in OSTC and EPA Source testing methodologies.
  • Strong computer and analytical hands-on skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform on-site stack testing and source emissions monitoring per regulatory methods (EPA/ECCC).
  • Plan and manage field deployments including crew logistics, equipment prep, and safety procedures.
  • Analyze data and ensure QA/QC throughout testing and reporting processes.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with clients, regulators, and internal teams; communicate scope and findings.

Position

RWDI's Guelph Office is seeking a Senior Field Technician – Source Emissions to direct and execute complex source testing projects across various industrial sectors. This role combines hands‑on fieldwork with leadership and client‑facing responsibilities. You will oversee field testing programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor junior technicians, all while maintaining the highest standards of safety and data integrity. This posting represents a currently available role.

Department Source Employment Type Permanent - Full Time Location Guelph, ON Workplace type Onsite Compensation $100,000 - $150,000 / year Reporting To Mason Sakshaug

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and perform on‑site stack testing and source emissions monitoring in accordance with federal and regional regulatory methods (e.g., EPA Reference Methods, ECCC).
  • Plan and manage field deployments, including crew logistics, equipment preparation, and safety procedures.
  • Analyze collected data and ensure QA/QC protocols are strictly followed throughout testing and reporting processes.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with clients, regulators, and internal teams to communicate project scope, progress, and findings.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise junior field technicians and new team members.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain analytical and sampling skills equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Support project scoping, scheduling, and budgeting in collaboration with project managers and senior leadership.
  • Keep current with evolving environmental regulations and industry best practices, proactively adapting procedures and technologies.
  • Prepare high‑quality technical reports, including regulatory documentation, emissions data summaries, and field observations.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Post‑secondary education in Environmental Technology, Engineering, Chemistry or a related field is an asset
  • A minimum of 5‑years’ experience working in the Air Quality Testing field
  • Practical expertise In OSTC and EPA Source testing methodologies
  • Strong computer and analytical technical “hands‑on” skills
  • An aptitude for practical problem‑solving
  • Field/site experience is a definite asset
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
Candidates Should Also Possess
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong people and team skills as well as being highly motivated
  • An ability to work in a fast‑paced team environment with no supervision
  • Exceptional organizational capabilities, coordination, and consultation skills
  • Willingness to travel, and work outdoors including working long hours, evenings, and weekends
  • Collect samples at locations that may require working at heights and outdoors in all weather conditions
