Job summary

RWDI is seeking a Senior Field Technician – Source Emissions to join our Calgary team. This permanent, full‑time role blends hands‑on fieldwork with leadership and client‑facing responsibilities, overseeing stack testing programs and regulatory compliance while mentoring junior technicians.

You will plan deployments, analyze data, ensure QA/QC, and communicate project scope and findings to clients, regulators, and internal teams; travel and outdoor work with long hours may be required.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Environmental Technology, Engineering, Chemistry or related field is an asset.
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in the Air Quality Testing field.
  • Practical expertise in OSTC and EPA Source testing methodologies.
  • Strong computer and analytical hands-on skills.
  • Aptitude for practical problem-solving.
  • Field/site experience is a definite asset.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform on-site stack testing and source emissions monitoring in accordance with federal and regional regulatory methods (e.g., EPA Reference Methods, ECCC).
  • Plan and manage field deployments, including crew logistics, equipment preparation, and safety procedures.
  • Analyze collected data and ensure QA/QC protocols are strictly followed throughout testing and reporting processes.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with clients, regulators, and internal teams to communicate project scope, progress, and findings.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise junior field technicians and new team members.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain analytical and sampling equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Support project scoping, scheduling, and budgeting in collaboration with project managers and senior leadership.
  • Keep current with evolving environmental regulations and industry best practices, proactively adapting procedures and technologies.
  • Prepare high‑quality technical reports, including regulatory documentation, emissions data summaries, and field observations.

Location: Calgary, AB | Employment Type: Permanent – Full Time | Reporting To: Mason Sakshaug
