Job summary

RWDI is seeking a Senior Wind Tunnel Operator to join the Wind Tunnel Group in Guelph, Ontario. This full-time permanent position involves rotating day, afternoon and night shifts, with responsibility for setting up and executing experiments per the test program and quality standards.

Responsibilities include assembling the test model and sensors, configuring data acquisition, ensuring safety and quality, and collaborating with team members to meet project timelines.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on carpentry and physical assembly skills.
  • Competent with Windows-based programs.
  • Excellent attention to detail in physical and computer environments.
  • Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble test model on the testing platform.
  • Assemble testing sensors into the wind tunnel.
  • Connect sensors to data acquisition equipment.
  • Configure software to facilitate data collection.
  • Ensure test setup meets quality standards.
  • Ensure data meets quality standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams.
  • Operate equipment safely.
  • Follow SOPs for equipment handling.
  • Meet project timelines.

RWDI is seeking a Senior Wind Tunnel Operator to join the Wind Tunnel Group in Guelph, Ontario. This is a full-time permanent position, requiring rotating day, afternoon, and night shifts.

The Senior Wind Tunnel Operator is responsible for setting up and executing experiments adhering to the prescribed test program and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
The Role Includes But Is Not Limited To
  • Physical assembly of the test model onto the testing platform
  • Physical assembly of testing sensors into the wind tunnel
  • Physical connection of sensors to data acquisition equipment
  • Configuration of various software programs to facilitate data collection
  • Ensure physical test setup meets quality control standards
  • Ensure acquired data meets quality control standards
  • Communication and collaboration with internal and external team members
  • Safe operation of equipment and tools
  • Following SOPs in relation to handling and operating equipment and instrumentation
  • Performing all duties effectively to meet project timelines

Please note, this is a week day position (Monday - Friday), on a 2 week rotation of day, afternoon and night shifts.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Candidates Need To Also Have The Following Qualifications
  • Hands-on skills relating to carpentry or physical assembly of components, including the use of various hand and power tools
  • Technologically inclined and competent using windows-based programs
  • Excellent attention to detail in both physical and computer environments
  • Logical thinker with good judgement and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work with commitment and accuracy under pressure to successfully meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Self-starter and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Post-Secondary education in Instrumentation Technology is considered an asset
