Our client, an innovative, customer-centric regional leader in the industrial and commercial construction field, has partnered with Jay Pinniger of the Lock Search Group to find an experienced Senior Estimator to join their Alberta team. The position could be based out of an office in Edmonton or Calgary and has a hybrid work model. Your expertise in construction estimation will play a pivotal role in guiding overarching strategies, molding the profitability and sustained success of the organization. Our client is looking for an experienced construction professional to round out their leadership team.

The position involves delivering Preconstruction Estimating Services to aid the Business Development and Estimating division. The incoming Senior Estimator will advocate for the integration of cutting-edge technologies and optimal methodologies, thereby boosting efficiency and elevating competitiveness within the ever-evolving construction sector. This role will involve managing bid proposals, analyzing project needs, and formulating cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and overhead expenses. The chosen applicant will be responsible for tasks including creating Conceptual Budgets, Design-Build Proposals, and Hard Estimates, which involve quantity takeoffs, unit pricing, and Sub-Contractor pricing.

Responsibilities:

1. Evaluate and analyze quotes and awards from Sub-Contractors/Suppliers for tender submissions
2. Cultivate and nurture relationships with Sub-Contractors/Suppliers by engaging in networking and participating in construction association events, among other activities
3. Confirm the participation of invited Sub-Contractors/Suppliers in quoting processes through effective follow-up
4. Manage, process, and distribute various documents, drawings, and Tender Packages as necessary for the team
5. Maintain a database of unit prices and productivity knowledge
6. Generate precise and comprehensive estimates
7. Engage in Project Team meetings
8. Partake in initiatives offered in-house by our client and the Career Progression plan to enhance personal growth and knowledge base
9. Attend mandatory training courses as directed by the manager
10. Adhere to the established policies and procedures
11. Lead or support activities related to tender closings
12. Discern building materials and potential design alternatives to reduce costs or save time
13. Formulate work scopes for Sub-Contractors to be utilized in tendering processes
14. Recognize bonding and insurance prerequisites
15. Comprehend and integrate client's specifications into cost estimations
16. Visualize final products with minimal project information

Qualifications:

1. 5+ years of Estimating experience
2. Post Secondary Education with a focus on Engineering or Architecture (C.E.T comparable qualifications)
3. Familiarity or comprehension of lean thinking principles
4. Proficiency in implementing continuous enhancement
5. Shows proficiency in contributing to team success.
6. Thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
8. Mastery in utilizing Estimating software (InEight) with the skill to operate and comprehend the acquired data
9. Familiarity with scheduling software (MS Project, P6) and proficiency in constructing precise schedules
10. Aptitude for performing accurate quantity takeoffs both manually and electronically
11. Exhibit professional communication skills in both verbal and written formats
