Successful candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the Commercial Aluminum & Glass Glazing industry as an estimator and project manager.
The position will focus on project estimating, bidding with additional responsibilities in project management, coordination, and installation etc. Ideally, this person is an individual with experience in estimating building envelope for glazing scopes. In addition, the Estimator will be responsible for the preparation of material and quantity take-offs from architectural drawings, as well as preparing product breakdowns for costing and all costs associated with tendered estimates.
Candidate will be responsible for reviewing architectural drawings, material take offs, compiling quotes from suppliers, and putting final pricing to complete glazing estimates for commercial tenders. Once Projects or work is awarded the candidate will be responsible to work and manage the team/staff to insure a clean project execution till its completion.
Must be proficient in English and have excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

- Complete take-offs/estimate or assigned projects.
- Follow-up on multi-scope or single-scope projects.
- Attend pre-bid & post-bid meetings.
- Complete work orders & prepare material order sheets.
- Ability to read specs and drawings.
- Working as part of the glazier team you will produce high value tenders covering all aspects of architectural glass & glazing while managing the estimating department and actively seeking new clients.
- Review scope of work, specifications, and addendums for prospective projects to provide lump sum tender prices.
- Produce product take-offs by examining drawings from Architects, Engineers, and General Contractors to determine the proper product and quantities that would be required to correctly fulfill both the building code specifications and the customers budget requirements.
- Review and make changes to estimates as per post-tender addendums.
- Collaborate with all department peer groups, to ensure that regional best practices, high quality quotation documents and competitive pricing is provided consistently and in a professional manner.
- Obtain and track subcontract bids and negotiate budgets.
- Maintenance of job files, project digital database.
- Attend project meetings, client meetings, senior management and other meetings whenever required.
- Attending pretender site meetings to prepare an accurate estimate.
- Track job progress and changes to alert operations management to delays, issues etc.
- Process submittals and project approvals.
- Maintenance of job files, project digital database.
- Liaison with clients, build relationships with various stakeholders.
- Apply Continuous Improvement principles in your work performance and drive Continuous Improvement application in company operations.
- Track and update management on sales opportunities regularly.
- Prepare shop drawings for projects as needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- Mandatory experience with following Aluminum & Glass Glazing services.
- Exceptional teamwork and communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Hands on experience with flow charts, spreadsheets, technical documents (blueprints/specs).
- Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
- Minimum 5 years of experience, preferably within larger construction projects.
- Solid organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft office, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, Estimating Software tools, and General Computer skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Great sales skills.
- Background in Building Science.
- Solid knowledge of AutoCAD and other Architectural and Drawing tools.
