Qualifications

  • 15+ years of consulting experience in environmental site assessment and remediation.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer Ontario (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (P.Geo.).
  • QPESA designation defined by O. Reg. 153/04.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Regulations 153/04 and 406/19.
  • Post-secondary degree in hydrogeology, engineering, or earth sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ESAs, remediation projects, and excess soil management from proposal to completion.
  • Technical liaison with clients, stakeholders, and internal staff.
  • Prepare/review technical proposals, reports, and client communications.
  • Ensure technical integrity and RWDI standards across projects.
  • Represent RWDI on liability issues and provide expert analysis/testimony as needed.
  • Participate in marketing and business development activities for Geoscience.
  • Mentor and provide subject-matter expertise within the practice area.

RWDI is seeking an energetic Senior Environmental Geoscientist / Senior Environmental Engineer to join our Geoscience team in Ontario.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), remediation projects, and excess soil management projects from proposal development to project completion.
  • Technical liaison with clients, stakeholders, and internal project staff.
  • Prepare/review technical proposals, technical reports, and client communications summarizing project work, findings, and recommendations.
  • Assumes ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of projects and ensuring the quality of product (technical scope and defensibility of solution/results) meets RWDI standards and client expectations and meets standards of professional practice.
  • Assures that the project risks (engineering solutions proposals and all representative materials containing results, recommendations, conclusions) are within RWDI’s standard parameters and meets standards of professional practice.
  • Represent the company on liability issues and may provide expert analysis and/or testimony at hearings.
  • Participate in special marketing assignments or business development initiatives where a comprehensive technical background is required.
  • Is one of the technical leaders within their area of practice in industry (i.e., presenting at conferences, conducting webinars, publishing papers, etc.)
  • Actively participates in industry/professional organizations, associations, committees.
  • Participate in business development activities and provide input into strategic initiatives for the Geoscience business unit.
  • Responsible to mentor, coach, and provide subject matter expertise in the execution of training plans established by the Practice Area Leader.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

We are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications:

  • 15 + years consulting experience focusing primarily on Environmental Site Assessment and remediation, contaminant hydrogeology, and excess soil management.
  • Licensed under Professional Engineers - Ontario (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (P.Geo.).
  • A Qualified Person as defined by O. Reg. 153/04 for Environmental Site Assessment (QPESA).
  • Solid working knowledge of Ontario Regulations 153/04 and 406/19.
  • Post-secondary education from an accredited institution in hydrogeology, engineering, or earth sciences.

Additional attributes considered an asset:

  • Strong comprehension of environmental legislation in Ontario, including but not limited to Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act and Species at Risk Act, as well as associated relevant Regulations.
  • Experience providing expert testimony and litigation support.
