Job summary

WSP in Ontario seeks a senior Environmental Engineer/Geoscientist to provide strategic direction and technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams delivering complex environmental programs across Northern Ontario and beyond. You’ll guide assessments, remediation, and risk management while growing client relationships and the environmental/geoscience practice regionally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Geo-Environmental Science, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering with leadership experience.
• P.Geo. or P.Eng. in Ontario; Qualified Person under O.Reg. 153/04.
• 15–20+ years of progressive environmental engineering/geoscience experience; senior oversight of major projects in Ontario and Atlantic Canada.
• Advanced expertise in environmental site assessment, contaminated sites, remediation, risk assessment, excess soils, and emerging contaminants.
• Proven senior reviewer and technical authority on complex project files.
• Seller-doer with long-term client relationships and growth trackrecord.
• Collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset with influence across teams and markets.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic technical leadership across environmental site assessment, remediation, and risk assessment programs.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams to deliver complex, high-impact environmental projects influencing planning, land development, infrastructure, and sustainability outcomes.
• Mentor and develop talent within the Environmental business and strengthen succession planning.
• Act as trusted advisor to executive leadership, strategic partners, and major clients on environmental risk and regulatory frameworks.
• Champion innovation by advancing new methodologies, standards, and best practices.
• Increase WSP’s visibility through industry associations, conferences, and technical committees.
• Drive business growth through seller‑doer leadership, pursuit strategy, proposal oversight, and opportunity pipeline forecasting.
• Strengthen cross‑sector collaboration to expand environmental service offerings across geographies and business lines.
• Support risk management on major pursuits and programs, including contract review and commercial strategy.
