Job summary

City of Windsor is seeking an Environmental Compliance Coordinator to lead environmental compliance efforts across engineering assignments and act as the Qualified Person for On-Site & Excess Soil Management under Ontario Regulation 406/19.

The role requires professional engineering or geoscience credentials with extensive experience, licensing by Ontario engineering/geoscience bodies, and ability to travel to site locations.

Qualifications

• Master’s or University degree in engineering (Environmental/Civil) or geoscience.
• PEO license or Ontario Professional Geoscientists Act registration is required or an asset.
• Minimum five to eight years of progressive experience for Qualified Person designation.
• Must be willing to travel to off-site locations as required.
• Strong communication, analytical and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance on engineering assignments as the Qualified Person.
• Act as the point of contact for regulatory agencies with reports and documentation.
• Ensure compliance for wastewater treatment, closed landfills and pumping stations, and permits.
• Provide support for engineering tasks including design, cost estimates, and tender documents.
• Supervise engineers, technologists and technicians; prepare reports and correspondence.
• Promote adherence to provincial safety acts and corporate policies; manage safety duties.
