We are seeking a Senior Automation and Controls Engineer to design and implement sustainable automation projects as part of our engineering team.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to leverage extensive knowledge and experience, leading the design and delivery of capital projects in an industrial environment. Responsibilities also include supporting testing, commissioning activities, and providing technical support to operations and maintenance teams as needed.
Reporting to the Superintendent of Automation, Instrumentation, and Control Systems, you will work within a collaborative community in a challenging and dynamic environment. Your responsibilities will include:
Developing and maintaining PLC and DCS programming, especially with Allen Bradley ControlLogix, PLC5, and Foxboro systems.
Designing and implementing automation systems, including control philosophies and application strategies.
Developing and configuring operator interfaces (HMIs) and designing user-friendly control systems.
Integrating network protocols (DeviceNet, HART, TCP/IP) within systems effectively.
Translating process flow diagrams, block flow diagrams, and P&ID's into detailed control narratives and documentation.
Interpreting electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, and instrumentation documentation.
Leading and managing capital projects, including feasibility studies, scope, and engineering design.
Troubleshooting, upgrading, and optimizing automation systems and equipment using strong problem-solving skills and technical expertise.
What you’ll bring
A commitment to safety for yourself and your team.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – Automation, Electrical, Electronics, Control, or Chemical.
P.Eng. designation.
Solid experience in automation.
Preferably experience working with engineering firms, automation solutions providers, or plant engineering teams.
Experience working on industrial automation projects.
