Job summary

CDN Controls ULC is seeking a Senior Electrical - Journeyperson for on-site work in Grande Prairie, AB. You will lead electrical installations, maintenance, and commissioning, while mentoring apprentices and ensuring safety compliance.

The role requires deep knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, industrial systems, and a track record of 7+ years. Pre-employment stimulant tests are part of the process; contractors may apply, with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 license with clean driver abstract.
• H2S, First Aid, OSSA Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform, CSO, and CSTS certifications required.
• Typically 7+ years of related experience.
• Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
• Experience with industrial electrical equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Environmental, Health & Safety policies.
• Mentor apprentices on installations, maintenance and safe work practices.
• Read and interpret drawings and electrical code specifications.
• Install and maintain conduit systems (rigid, aluminum, EMT, PVC).
• Read and operate the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable rules.
• Handle electrical equipment (MCCs, motors, PLC panels, heat trace, batteries, solar panels, VFDs).
• Test equipment for current, voltage and OHMS.
• Assist with installations, repairs, troubleshooting, testing and commissioning.
• Manage project QAQC documents and material ordering.

Job description

CDN is a recognized industry leader in the energy services sector. CDN is a full-service provider with expertise in Electrical & Instrumentation maintenance, renewables/solar, major projects, combustion & emissions reduction, and measurement.

• Role: Senior Electrical - Journeyperson
• Shift: 8 days on, 6 days off (10 hr days)
• Overtime: Project based
• Pre-Employment Condition: Pre-employment D&A test required

Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all company Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Mentor apprentices and provide guidance on electrical installations, maintenance, and safe work practices.
• Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams, and electrical code specifications.
• Install and maintain conduit systems, including rigid, aluminum, EMT, and PVC.
• Understand and inter-operate the most current Canadian electrical code book and exercise the rules when applicable.
• Understand and execute basic circuit fundamentals, alternating current circuit properties, heating and cooling systems, magnetic control and switching circuits, three phase systems, transformers, machines, control and switching/PLC, fire alarm systems, red seal programs, industry network, and applications of electronics.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical equipment such as MCCs, motors, PLC panels, heat trace, batteries, solar panels, voltage regulators, and VFDs.
• Test electrical equipment and components for current, voltage and OHMS.
• Assist with electrical installations, repairs, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Responsible for all administrative, material ordering, and QAQC documents directly associated with the project at hand.
• Other duties as required.

Job Requirements :

• A valid Class 5 license with a clean driver abstract.
• Valid H2S, First Aid, OSSA Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform, CSO, and CSTS.
• Typically 7 or more years of related experience.
• Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
• Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting industrial electrical equipment and systems.
• Experience in the Oil and Gas industry in construction or maintenance is considered an asset.
• Ability to work in various working conditions ranging from outdoors to indoors in a variety of weather conditions and working from heights as needed.
• A pre-employment drug and alcohol test is required prior to employment.
