Job summary

CDN is a recognized leader in energy services, seeking a Senior Electrical - Journeyperson for Grande Prairie, AB. The role features a rotating 8 days on, 6 days off schedule (10 hour days) with project-based overtime.

Pre-employment D&A testing is required, and responsibilities include mentoring apprentices, reading electrical drawings, and maintaining complex electrical systems. Qualified candidates will hold a Journeyperson ticket, Class 5 license with clean abstract, and relevant safety

Qualifications

• Certified Journeyperson Electrician with Canadian certification.
• Valid Class 5 driver license with clean abstract.
• H2S, First Aid, OSSA Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform, CSO and CSTS certifications.
• Typically 7+ years of related experience in industrial electrical work.
• Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
• Oil and Gas industry experience in construction or maintenance is an asset.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol test required.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Environmental, Health & Safety policies.
• Mentor apprentices and provide guidance on electrical installations and safe work practices.
• Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications.
• Install and maintain conduit systems (rigid, aluminum, EMT, PVC).
• Understand and apply the Canadian electrical code and rules.
• Operate and troubleshoot MCCs, motors, PLC panels, and related equipment.
• Assist with installations, repairs, testing and commissioning activities.
• Manage project QAQC documentation and material ordering.

Job description

CDN is a recognized industry leader in the energy services sector. CDN is a full-service provider with expertise in Electrical & Instrumentation maintenance, renewables/solar, major projects, combustion & emissions reduction, and measurement.

• Role: Senior Electrical - Journeyperson
• Location: Grande Prairie, Alberta
• Shift: 8 days on, 6 days off (10 hr days)
• Overtime: Project based
• Pre-Employment Condition: Pre-employment D&A test required

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all company Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Mentor apprentices and provide guidance on electrical installations, maintenance, and safe work practices.
• Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams, and electrical code specifications.
• Install and maintain conduit systems, including rigid, aluminum, EMT, and PVC.
• Understand and inter-operate the most current Canadian electrical code book and exercise the rules when applicable.
• Understand and execute basic circuit fundamentals, alternating current circuit properties, heating and cooling systems, magnetic control and switching circuits, three phase systems, transformers, machines, control and switching/PLC, fire alarm systems, red seal programs, industry network, and applications of electronics.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical equipment such as MCCs, motors, PLC panels, heat trace, batteries, solar panels, voltage regulators, and VFDs.
• Test electrical equipment and components for current, voltage and OHMS.
• Assist with electrical installations, repairs, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Responsible for all administrative, material ordering, and QAQC documents directly associated with the project at hand.
• Other duties as required.

Job Requirements

• Certified Journeyperson Electrician.
• A valid Class 5 license with a clean driver abstract.
• Valid H2S, First Aid, OSSA Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform, CSO, and CSTS.
• Typically 7 or more years of related experience.
• Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
• Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting industrial electrical equipment and systems.
• Experience in the Oil and Gas industry in construction or maintenance is considered an asset.
• Ability to work in various working conditions ranging from outdoors to indoors in a variety of weather conditions and working from heights as needed.
• A pre-employment drug and alcohol test is required prior to employment.
