Job description

Job Summary:
The Senior Electrical Estimator will be responsible for responding to tenders, bid requests or Requests for Quotation (RFQs) in the industrial, commercial and institutional market by developing accurate, complete and competitive estimates. These tenders and bids will be for retrofits to existing complexes.
Responsibilities:
  1. Conducting a thorough review of specifications and drawings.
  2. Developing thorough material take-offs and labour take-offs.
  3. Coordinating price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers and architects regarding tenders/bid requests.
  4. Reviewing the estimate with the Project Manager(s), Service Managers and/or Foreman to ensure all are in agreement with labour, material, equipment and subcontracting costs.
  5. Preparing tenders by quantifying, organizing and tabulating all material, equipment, labour, and subcontract costs needed to complete the project.
  6. Participating in site review, tender review, tender hand-off, project closing and operational/sector meetings with the Regional Manager, Project Manager, Service Manager and Purchasing when and where required.
  7. Providing guidance on opportunities that come in, on viability, possibility of winning, possibility of extras, possible risks, etc. to help guide the team on the best prospects to chase.
  8. Preparing risk review for the PM and/or SM to assist in the collaborative review of the prepared estimate.
  9. Providing assistance to the sales force in developing proposals may be required.
  10. Reviewing tender closing documents and obtaining signed/sealed, bonding/insurance certificates, etc.
  11. Utilizing estimating software in the estimating function. Working to enhance it, streamline, improve, etc. with the software provider in its functioning for Ainsworth.
Qualifications:
  1. Minimum 8-10 years estimating experience in the Electrical ICI.
  2. High school graduate.
  3. Proficiency with Accubid (estimation software), Livecount, Excel, Word, Outlook.
  4. Trade Certificate would be a great asset.
  5. Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal is essential.
  7. Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet strict deadlines.
