Hamilton-based mechanical and electrical engineering consulting firm is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the team.

Role Overview

As an Electrical Engineer, your role involves working with external project teams and internal design teams to develop electrical designs for various buildings. You will take the lead on all technical design requirements for assigned projects, including project management, coordination with other disciplines, client interactions, managing the electrical team, and contract administration during construction.

Your responsibilities include:

• Attending design meetings to represent the electrical discipline
• Selecting relevant equipment, reviewing, and verifying design calculations for electrical systems
• Managing intermediate and junior electrical team members
• Overseeing the production of design documentation, including drawing sets, coordination of electrical systems with mechanical, architectural, and other disciplines, and contract administration

Projects may include residential (low and high-rise), educational, commercial, institutional, industrial, and retirement/long-term care facilities.

Qualifications and Required Skills

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario
• At least 5 years of electrical engineering experience in building services
• Technical expertise in power, lighting, fire alarm, life safety systems, generators, and auxiliary systems like IT, A/V, and communications
• Experience with Canadian building codes and standards (OBC, OESC, IES, NFPA, etc.)
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Knowledge of mechanical, architectural, and structural drawings and their impact on electrical designs
• Ability to resolve construction issues, liaise with contractors, and manage client expectations
