We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer based out of our Montreal or Toronto office to lead Electrical Engineering on a global mining project.

Reporting to DRA’s EC&I Head of Department, you will be responsible for Engineering and discipline project design activities relating to concept, pre‑feasibility, feasibility studies, EPCM and EPC projects.

Main functions include (but not limited to):
  • Technical Support
  • Package Management
  • Site Support
  • Documentation and handover
Responsibilities
  • Carry out innovative detailed designs as required for specific disciplines following good engineering practices.
  • Ensure that the discipline designs are carried out in accordance with client standards and specifications, industry standards and the relevant legislation (quality of design).
  • Ensure (certified) design information received from vendors, contractors and consultants is accurate and interfaces with other designs.
  • Ensure the effective (peer) review and approval of discipline design.
  • Ensure continuous improvement, lessons learnt, value engineering, fit for purpose and latest technologies are implemented.
  • Is responsible for the engineering discipline sign off.
  • Interfaces with internal and external design and drafting disciplines.
  • Provides discipline input for studies and proposals.
  • Provides engineering support to the site team.
  • Performs commissioning discipline activities.
  • Manages the mark‑up and back drafting of redline drawings.
Operational Management
  • Ensures that relevant project procedures are complied with.
  • Participates in the Total Safety Culture of DRA and site safety requirements.
  • Assists with the commissioning.
  • Ensures that reports are structured, accurate, complete and well presented.
  • Displays proactive communication with project team with respect to discipline interface and problem solving.
  • Displays effective management of time.
  • Ensures proper change management procedure is adhered to.

  • Manage personal and design/drafting budget man‑hours.
  • Manage budget as allocated per discipline/procurement package.
  • Ensure designs produced are in accordance with capital budget and quantities.
  • Ensure suitable contract management is applied to managed procurement packages.
Client Relations
  • Ensures that all interactions with Clients are conducted in professional and respectful manner.
  • Ensures that Clients are kept informed and up to date on status of project technical aspects.
  • Ensures that DRA remains the Clients engineering service provider of choice.
  • Liaises and co‑ordinates with the client’s discipline engineers to ensure adherence to project and client requirements and specifications.
Requirements
  • 15+ years experience in a similar role within the multi‑disciplinary Mining & Minerals Processing EPCM environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years experience in project engineering & design.

The compensation range for this role is $115,000 to $135,000 annually, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
