Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
Convergence Design Services is seeking an experienced hardware design engineer to develop rugged electronics for defense, space, aviation and mobility applications. You will work with a small, collaborative team to move designs from schematic and simulation into real hardware deployed in the field.
The role emphasizes embedded design, including microcontrollers, FPGA, PCIe, video and serial interfaces, with a focus on signal and power integrity.
We’re designing and building advanced technology for rugged applications in defense, space, aviation and mobility — and we’re doing it with speed, creativity, and real engineering depth. If you’re an engineer who loves solving hard physics problems, shipping real hardware, and seeing your work operate in the real world, you’ll fit right in. Join a focused, fun team where your ideas matter and your designs don’t just sit in simulations — they deploy. If you are looking for your next challenge with a fast growing, mission-driven team where collaboration is real, hierarchy is minimal, and your work goes from whiteboard to field,
Our engineers work alongside a great team of mechanical, software, and hardware developers creating works class electronics for a wide range of markets, including Military/Avionics, and Electrical vehicles/robotics. And we work in a spectacular, 10,000-square-foot historic building with a mid-century modern decor in the picturesque heritage setting of Arnprior (30 minutes from Ottawa). It is a truly unique place.
If you have a passion for electronic design, enjoy working independently or as part of a small team, get excited about the path to a great design, and take satisfaction in getting the job done, you could be a great fit for this job. We value experience in schematic capture, PCB layout tools, simulation (analog/communications, digital, video, signal integrity) and power supply design.
In particular, you would be a good fit if you have 5+ years of experience in detailed hardware design, can proficiently operate general lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies and waveform generators, and have a passion for embedded design, including microcontrollers, memory interfaces, FPGA, PCle, Video, serial interfaces, and audio.
