Reporting to the Vice President, Supply Chain, and as Senior Director, Purchasing and Sourcing, you will manage the Purchasing team (responsible for strategic purchasing solutions) as well as the Supply Planning team (responsible for coordinating the replenishment of products, ingredients and materials), to support Nortera's profitable growth objectives through optimal service levels and optimal supply performance. suppliers, generating favorable impacts on turnover and profitability.
THE ROLE:
- Develop and implement strategic purchasing strategies for agricultural raw materials, packaging and indirect expenses to ensure continuity of supply and cost competitiveness;
- Take responsibility for materials planning and support PVO (Sales and Operations Planning) processes within Nortera's multi-plant network, balancing demand from the retail and foodservice sector;
- Negotiate and manage key contracts with suppliers and producers, including forward and hedging agreements (financial derivative products);
- Lead raw material price risk management as well as supplier risk mitigation strategies;
- Ensure supplier compliance with food safety and quality standards and regulatory requirements;
- Manage procurement budgets and deliver cost savings in line with established targets;
- Lead, mentor and develop professionals in the procurement and materials planning teams;
- Act as a strategic partner and influencer to peers and senior management in the areas of operations, finance, sales/food service and R&D/quality assurance.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Personnel management practices, coaching, talent development and performance monitoring.
Strategic purchasing (Direct & Indirect):
- Direct: Agricultural markets (seasonality, harvests, producer contracts) and packaging materials (volatility of steel, aluminum, cardboard, plastics);
- Indirect: Industrial goods/services, IT, corporate services and logistics (cold chain and ambient);
- Regulatory and food safety frameworks relevant to supplier qualification;
- Co-manufacturing/subcontracting relationship models, including contractualization and management;
- Financial control: Assessment of the impact of purchases and markets on Nortera's profitability, assets and cash flow;
- Establishing standard costs and modeling the impact on cost of goods sold (COGS);
SKILLS:
- Strategic sourcing (category strategies, RFQ processes), contract negotiation, cost modeling (TCO, “should-cost”) and raw material hedging/risk management strategies.
Supply Chain & Operations:
- PVO/PIA (sales and operations planning/integrated business planning) process, inventory optimization and multi-plant supply/demand balancing;
- Team mobilization and development, supplier relationship management and strong capacity for transversal influence with senior management;
Systems & Analysis:
- Excellent financial and analytical skills, combined with expertise in ERP, purchasing tools (Coupa) and the Office/Google suite.
PROFILE:
Leadership & Influence:
- Ability to mobilize / agile strategist (able to move to tactics), you excel in team management and transversal influence within a matrix/decentralized organization;
Agility & Autonomy:
- Results-oriented team player, you manage priorities with autonomy in a dynamic, constantly evolving environment;
Ethics & Rigor:
- Solutions oriented, you ensure compliance, ethics (responsible/sustainable sourcing) and compliance with audits;
- More than 15 years of experience in purchasing/supply chain (including 8 years in team management), ideally in the food, CPG sector. Direct experience with agricultural raw materials, canned/frozen products or perishable categories is strongly preferred;
Strategic management (Direct & Indirect):
- Proven track record in optimizing working capital, negotiating complex contracts (including commodity hedging) and managing risk in the face of market disruptions;
Operations & Collaborations:
- Multi-plant experience with strong contribution to PVO/PIA processes and proven ability to influence senior management;
Training & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (Supply Chain, Administration, Engineering or Agriculture). MBA or Master's degree, an asset;
- Certifications (Assets): SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional), CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), APICS/CPIM or equivalent.
- Continuing training in raw materials risk management, agricultural economics or food industry regulatory affairs (asset);
- Languages: Bilingualism (French and English).
