Reporting to the VP of Marketing and Communications, the Senior Director will be responsible for the ideation and execution of Shaftesbury's innovative digital marketing strategies across the company’s slate of prime-time series and overall corporate objectives. Leading a team of marketing and publicity professionals, the role is deeply rooted in live-action production, relations with various broadcast and distribution partners, and event execution. The role requires a people strong leader who will focus on the overall growth and development of the team.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Oversee Shaftesbury’s digital marketing strategy (including paid media) to build and foster new audiences for all shows and IP.
- With the VP, Marketing and Communications, develop and execute initiatives and events that support and bolster Shaftesbury’s corporate profile and IP
- Manage the Marketing team by providing guidance and feedback on all performances
- Oversee the digital marketing asset creation including all social media materials, EPK strategies/deliverables and key art across all cycles of each series. This will elevate and maintain Shaftesbury’s best-in-class standard across all IP
- Oversee the department’s function as it relates to talent management/relations across all shows
- Ensure a consistent brand voice and for key productions as well as for Shaftesbury’s corporate office
- Monitor marketing metrics and report on how campaigns are performing, as well as providing recommendations for future campaigns
- Collaborate with Shaftesbury’s departments including Creative, Production, Legal and Finance
- Collaborate with Shaftesbury’s various departments on the funding application process for all projects
- Manage the marketing and publicity budget across all shows and invoicing process for each to ensure that all details are captured and reported on, season over season
- Create and develop new and relevant relationships with stakeholders, broadcasters, vendors and third-party services that support Shaftesbury’s corporate vision and brand messages in a B2B and B2C capacity
- Work with third-party producers, broadcasters and streaming partners to understand and deliver on their publicity needs, including series launch strategies and ongoing publicity activities through each season
- Oversee Shaftesbury activations and events including set tours, fan tours/engagement, series meet and greets, panels, junkets and all logistics and execution for Shaftesbury’s in-house parties
- Work with the communications team to brainstorm new angles for media pitching, as well as supporting with project research
- Offer creative and strategic input across all brand extensions and campaigns
- Monitor earned media, including ongoing tracking of coverage for all Shaftesbury properties, compiling press clippings, pulling quotation documents and reports as needed
- Stay abreast of competitive company projects, activities, as well as industry trends and seek new opportunities for driving awareness of Shaftesbury’s key and corporate brands
Skills And Requirements
- Minimum 10 years working in digital content production and communications in the entertainment industry
- Hands-on experience with creating and executing digital marketing projects and initiatives
- Strong knowledge and experience working across social media platforms
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and to balance the needs of multiple stakeholders; excellent ability to prioritize effectively
- Ability to develop and implement strategic and operational communication plans
- Excellent leader with good judgment and creative problem-solving ability
- Ability to think and act strategically when managing media and creating messages for a wide range of stakeholders
- Strong ability to lead and execute media relations programs
- Strong teamwork, collaboration and people management skills
- Proactive critical thinking skills, quality management, attention to detail and resourcefulness
- Knowledge of the Canadian media industry and media relationships would be preferred
