Job summary

The Government of the Northwest Territories is seeking a senior leader to join the ECC Senior Management Team in Yellowknife to provide leadership, strategic direction and oversight to protect, conserve and enhance the Northwest Territories' air, land and water. This role includes program areas such as hazardous waste, spill response, contaminated sites regulatory and management, and waste reduction.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in a relevant engineering, geoscience or science discipline with a minimum of 10 years of progressive, directly related experience, at least seven years in a managerial position.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering, geoscience or science discipline with a minimum of 12 years of progressive, directly related experience, at least seven years in a managerial position.
  • PhD in a relevant engineering, geoscience or science discipline with a minimum of 8 years of progressive, directly related experience, at least seven years in a managerial position.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of northern air, land, and water management principles and issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, strategic direction and oversight to protect, conserve and enhance the NWT air, land and water.
  • Oversee program areas including hazardous waste, spill response, contaminated sites regulatory and management, and waste reduction.
  • Identify collaboration and engagement opportunities with internal and external stakeholders to create new approaches and innovative solutions.
