Job summary

Worley Consulting is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist or Engineer to lead contaminated sites assessment, remediation, reclamation, and monitoring across Alberta and northern Canada. This full-time role combines technical leadership with project delivery and client engagement, with opportunities to mentor junior professionals.

Based in Calgary or Edmonton, the position may require travel and field work in challenging environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Earth Sciences, or related field.
• Typically 7+ years of progressive environmental consulting experience focused on contaminated site assessment, remediation, reclamation, and monitoring.
• Registration or eligibility for P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag., EP, or equivalent professional designation.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental field programs including groundwater and surface water monitoring, soil sampling, drilling oversight, borehole logging, monitoring well installation, test pitting, remedial excavations, and reclamation activities.
• Manage a mix of field-based and office-based responsibilities: technical analysis, reporting, project coordination, and client support.
• Plan and execute Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) with investigation design, field oversight, data interpretation, and reporting.
• Provide technical leadership on contaminated sites, remediation, reclamation, and environmental monitoring projects.
• Mentor, coach and support development of junior environmental professionals through technical guidance and field leadership.
• Drive safe project execution through strong leadership, quality field documentation, issue resolution, and alignment with project objectives.
• Support Project Managers with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and client communication.
• Interpret environmental data and develop practical, technically sound recommendations for risk management and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare and review high-quality technical reports, ESAs, remediation strategies, regulatory submissions, and deliverables.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, regulators, Indigenous communities, and project stakeholders.
• Develop and promote site-specific health, safety, and sustainability plans in line with Worley standards.
