Employment Type : Full-Time Permanent (35 hours / week), Hybrid (2-3 days in office), Toronto-based

We are building a world-class philanthropy team inspired by the enduring values of Terry Fox — integrity, courage, determination, and compassion . As we enter a bold new chapter in the fight against cancer, we are inviting visionary and driven individuals to join us in engaging Canada’s and the world’s leading philanthropists to invest in transformative cancer research. This is your opportunity to be part of something extraordinary — to help shape a high-performing team with ambitious goals and to play a key role in a historic mission to “Finish It.” If you're passionate about making a lasting impact and energized by the challenge of building something meaningful, we want to hear from you.

Together, we will create a disciplined, well-supported, and strategically aligned fundraising team, we will maximize donor engagement, secure transformational gifts, and accelerate cancer research breakthroughs. The Senior Director, Campaign Operations at the Terry Fox Foundation is a pivotal role for a strategic and operational leader who thrives in a passion-filled environment. This is your opportunity to lead the design, to implement and oversee the systems, processes, and structures that empower our fundraising team’s success.

Why This Role Matters

As a key member of the Chief Philanthropy Officer’s (CPO) leadership team, the Senior Director, Campaign Operations ensures that every element of our philanthropic efforts — from major and transformational giving to campaign infrastructure — is optimized for efficiency, effectiveness, and impact. This role bridges strategy and execution, ensuring our fundraisers have the tools, data, and operational support they need to cultivate, solicit, and steward high-value donors. You will work across teams, manage timelines, drive accountability, and foster a high-performance fundraising culture.

Beyond fundraising operations, this role serves as a central point of coordination for the philanthropy team’s human resources, finance, data and IT needs — ensuring seamless integration between departments, strategic budget planning, and operational excellence that enhances the organization’s overall capacity to raise and manage transformational gifts.

What You’ll Achieve

  • Strategic Campaign Execution : Develop and manage the operational framework for the Foundation’s major and transformational giving initiatives, ensuring alignment with fundraising goals and priorities.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership : Collaborate with fundraising, finance, marketing, and program teams to streamline workflows and optimize donor engagement.
  • Project Management & Timelines : Implement disciplined project management processes, ensuring fundraising activities are executed on schedule, within scope, and on budget.
  • Data & Insights : Leverage data and analytics to track campaign progress, inform decision-making, and provide key stakeholders with real-time insights on fundraising performance.
  • Change Management : Lead and support process improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce friction, and increase fundraising capacity.
  • Internal Communications & Collaboration : Foster a culture of transparency, alignment, and accountability across the fundraising team, ensuring clarity on roles, expectations, and objectives.
  • Team Enablement : Ensure fundraisers and support teams have the technology, resources, and systems they need to execute high-impact donor engagement strategies.
  • Financial & Budget Planning : Work closely with finance to develop, monitor, and manage budgets, ensuring cost-effective execution without compromising impact.
  • Marketing & Brand Alignment : Partner with marketing and communications to ensure that all campaign initiatives align with the Terry Fox Foundation’s brand and messaging, maximizing visibility and engagement.
  • Talent & Team Support : Act as a key liaison with human resources to support talent development, team engagement, and operational needs that enhance staff effectiveness.
  • Gift Facilitation & Stewardship Support : Work closely with donor relations, finance, and stewardship teams to ensure seamless gift processing, recognition, and reporting.

Who You Are

  • A strategic thinker with 7+ years of experience in fundraising operations, campaign management, or nonprofit project management.
  • A high-EQ leader who excels in managing relationships, driving alignment, and fostering collaboration across teams.
  • A results-driven professional with a track record of executing large-scale fundraising initiatives with precision and impact.
  • A natural problem solver who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments and can navigate competing priorities.
  • A change agent who embraces innovation, process improvement, and data-driven decision-making.
  • A clear and persuasive communicator who can translate strategy into action, keeping teams motivated and focused.
  • A financial and operational thinker who understands budget management and the importance of maximizing resources for philanthropic success.
  • A mission-driven individual who is inspired by Terry Fox’s legacy and committed to playing a role in helping to Finish It.

What Success Looks Like

  • The Foundation’s fundraising efforts are streamlined, disciplined, and operating at peak efficiency.
  • The philanthropy team is fully supported, with the tools, data, and infrastructure needed to facilitate major and transformational gifts.
  • Cross-functional collaboration is strong, with clear communication, aligned priorities, and shared accountability.
  • Budget planning and operational decision-making are proactive, ensuring the best use of resources.
  • Campaign goals are met or exceeded, driven by well-orchestrated execution and strategic decision-making.
  • The Terry Fox Foundation is recognized as a leader in campaign operations, setting new standards for effectiveness in philanthropic fundraising.
