Job summary

Hatch Studio is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to lead the foundation and deployment strategy for high-concurrency cloud environments supporting an EA game. You will partner with the Go backend team to ensure scalable microservices across AWS and GCP, implementing IaC, automated CI/CD, and deep observability.

The role emphasizes self-direction, reliability best practices, and clear ADRs, with a remote PT-aligned schedule and Canada-based eligibility.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience operating production infrastructure, platform engineering, or DevOps at scale.

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure as Code & Cloud Architecture: Design, provision, and maintain production-grade cloud infrastructure on AWS (and GCP) using Terraform and modern cloud-native patterns.
• Developer Platform & CI/CD: Architect and maintain fast, secure, and resilient automated CI/CD pipelines to support deployment of containerized Go microservices and event processing engines.
• Scalability & Reliability Engineering: Collaborate with backend engineers to support high-concurrency systems (high RPS, streaming data, low-latency flows); define SLOs/SLAs and autoscaling strategies.
• Observability & Monitoring: Implement monitoring, tracing, and logging stacks with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and Datadog for visibility and proactive incidents.
• On-Call & Incident Management: Establish on-call rotations and drive post-mortems and automated remediation.
• Database & Messaging Support: Support zero-downtime PostgreSQL migrations, backups, disaster recovery, and streaming infra (AWS Kinesis, SNS/SQS, Kafka, NATS).
• Technical Communication: Write ADRs, infrastructure RFCs, post-mortems, and conduct infrastructure code reviews.
