Job summary

Electronic Arts Canada is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to shape backend architecture for generative creation workflows. You will collaborate with Research Scientists and Engineers to scale live services and bring emerging technologies into a world-class engine used by millions of players.

This hybrid role is onsite three days a week in Montreal or Vancouver, reporting to the Director of Engineering. You will focus on secure APIs, automated testing, and 24-hour live support for production

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on coding experience.
• Experience shipping scalable web services hosted in a public cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Expertise with Python and PostgreSQL.
• Experience owning large systems from design to deployment, including live service support.
• Experience developing high-quality, testable software.
• Experience collaborating with client engineers and designers to improve APIs.
• Experience developing APIs for products with zero-downtime updates.
• Experience with load testing and performance optimization of web services.
• Experience optimizing queries and database access patterns.
• Ability to iterate quickly and develop short prototypes.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engine developers to integrate creator-focused systems into backend architecture.
• Develop responsive, scalable web services that support millions of players.
• Blend security best practices with novel techniques to protect data and prevent cheating.
• Improve deployment and troubleshooting strategies to maximize uptime.
• Drive design and implementation of APIs and protocols that are formalized and testable.
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills under changing game development requirements.
• Write and review technical design documents and API specs.
• Maintain automated tests validating backend services.
• Participate in 24-hour live environment support.
• Maintain live services and their upkeep.
