Job summary

Shopwell Design is seeking a Senior Designer to lead hands-on UI/UX and brand work for ecommerce and DTC projects, with deep Shopify experience. You will own design decisions, present to clients, and mentor teammates while collaborating with PMs and developers in a remote Canada-wide studio.

As a senior contributor, you’ll shape visual systems, craft distinctive brand identities, and push bold concepts beyond templates, delivering dev-ready designs from wireframes to Shopify-ready themes.

Qualifications

• 4–6+ years of design experience across ecommerce/DTC and branding or non-ecommerce work.
• Extremely strong, confident UI/UX skills with bold instincts.
• Real branding and identity design experience from the ground up.
• Portfolio shows bold, creative point of view beyond templated aesthetics.
• Comfortable designing custom Shopify experiences and customizing existing Shopify themes (liquid/theme structure a plus).
• Strong command of Figma and modern design tools.
• Fluency in translating stakeholder goals into exceptional design experiences.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to defend design decisions to clients.

Responsibilities

• Own the design process on projects from stakeholder requirements through wireframes, prototypes, and final dev-ready designs.
• Design and art-direct branding, identity work, and visual systems for ecommerce and digital products.
• Create confident UI/UX for ecommerce, plus non-ecommerce digital and print design.
• Push boundaries with bold, unconventional design solutions to make projects stand out.
• Present work to clients, lead design discussions, and defend decisions.
• Mentor junior designers and incorporate feedback from the team.
• Stay current on design trends across web, mobile, and iOS.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Development team to translate ideas into lifelike implementations.
