Job summary

BBA Consultants is seeking a Senior Civil 3D Designer to join our Vancouver, B.C. team, supporting projects across Canada and internationally in the natural resources and energy sectors, including renewables, mining and metals, pulp and paper, biofuels, and oil and gas markets.

The role focuses on preparing construction drawings for infrastructure, including site civil works, roadway design, drainage, and related earthworks.

Qualifications

• College diploma in civil engineering technology with drafting/CAD expertise.
• 10+ years of civil design experience, preferably in mining or heavy industrial projects.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Global Mapper and Navisworks.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Familiarity with national and local codes related to site drainage and erosion control.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction drawings for infrastructure projects, including site civil works, roadway design, and drainage.
• Lead 3D models and 2D drawings for earthworks, roadworks, drainage, and underground services using Civil 3D.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and Navisworks.
• Ensure CAD standards and templates are followed and quality is maintained.
• Create and update design record databases and support estimating with quantity take-offs.

Senior Civil 3D Designer to join our team in Vancouver, B.C., supporting projects across Canada and internationally in the natural resources and energy sectors, including renewables, mining and metals, pulp and paper, biofuels, and oil and gas markets.

Primary responsibilities

The primary focus for project work will be to prepare construction drawings for infrastructure projects, including, but not limited to, site civil works (wet utility design, site grading and drainage), roadway design, and storm water basins and channels.

• Lead and prepare 3D models and 2D drawings for earthworks, roadworks, drainage works and underground services using Civil 3D
• Convey results and findings by means of discussions, graphic-based presentations and project documentation
• Work with multidisciplinary 3D model coordinators on Navisworks
• Adhere to computer-assisted design (CAD) standards and templates specific to the discipline and ensure quality control
• Design or redesign complex layouts and drawings from general written or verbal specifications from the project team
• Create and update design record databases for future reference
• Support estimating and planning efforts by providing accurate quantity take-offs and design inputs

Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements

• College diploma in civil engineering technology, with demonstrated expertise in drafting and/or CAD technology or similar preferred
• Over 10 years of experience in civil design, preferably in mining or heavy industrial projects
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, global GIS software (e.g., Global Mapper) and Navisworks
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Familiarity with national and local codes related to site drainage and erosion control
• Proven ability to read and understand both 2D and 3D drawings
• Asset: knowledge or understanding of the principals of surveying
